The school was originally housed in a Victorian building, adjacent to the Church at the top of the village, with a view in the distance of, what was then, the very small town of Swindon. The building still exists but is now a private house.</div> <br> In order to accommodate the increasing numbers of children as new houses were built in the village, in 1991 the school moved to its current site, in the middle of the Wanborough. <br>(<a href="contact.html">see Location Map</a>)<br><br> The school was immediately found to be too small for the growing population and several mobile classrooms were added to the site. These still remain to this day, despite several extensions to the school. <br><br> <img src="Logo.gif" width="85" height="85" border="0" class="imageleft"> The school emblem symbolises our links with the church, incorporating the church steeple and tower and the letter W for Wanborough. <br><br> Whilst we are not a Church School, we value our links with the church extremely highly. We hold many services in St Andrew's and always look forward to the frequent visits from Reverend Cardwell and his team.<br><br> The school has a history of high achievement, both academically and in extra-curricular pursuits. Staff and children find it hard to leave but when they do, we always look forward to hearing of the successes they achieve and hope that the foundations set at Wanborough have contributed to these.<br><br> <b>Today</b><br> At the start of this academic year (September 2008) we have 229 children on roll. As birth rates in our catchment area have fallen in recent years, we have welcomed an increasing number of children and their families from other parts of the town. We value the different perspectives they bring, as this enriches our experiences. <br><br> Currently close to 20% of our children are from out of catchment. <br><br> With 229 pupils the school is close to capacity, but some spaces are available in our Reception, Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5 classes, but not many! <br><br> We look forward to another busy year and can’t wait to use the new toilets!
