Acorn Class - Term 5
In maths, we have been consolidating our learning on composition to 10. To support us with this, we played a game in pairs. We had 10 double sided counters, one person turned over some and the other person looked at the counters and completed the sentence stem:
10 is made of _ and _.
_ and _ make 10.
Acorn class - Term 5 - Week 4
We had our school trip to Butterfly world this week. We split into three groups and each listened to three talks: inside the butterfly house, minibeasts and reptiles. We also had two whole class talks on otters and meerkats. We had the opportunity to hold a millipede and giant African land snail and see butterflies at each part of their lifecycle really bringing our minibeast topic to life! The children listened carefully and asked fantastic questions. They represented the school beautifully!
Acorn class - Term 5 - Week 3
This week in drawing club we focused on the book, 'Betsy Buglove Saves the Bees'. We learnt three new words: assist, tangled and courageous. For each word we created an action to help us remember it. Then we drew the bees buzzing in the garden and each wrote a sentence. Miss Corbyn's was, 'The bees can buzz.'
Acorn class - Term 5 - Week 2
Our new topic this term is called, 'All Creatures Great and Small'. First we will be looking at minibeasts and then dinosaurs. This week we learnt all about minibeasts and their habitats. After learning about where they live, we went on a minibeast hunt. Using magnifying glasses to help us search for them, we ticked any we saw off our checklist.
