Acorn Class - Term 3

This week we learnt all about Italy, with a focus on pizza. First we looked at a world map and found where Italy was. Then we watched a video showing us some of the sights of Italy, we compared it to England. After that, we talked about how it is famous for pizza and pasta and watched how a pizza is made. Then we created our own pizzas making sure to follow the instructions so that we made them in the right order. 

 

Continuing our work on Handa's Surprise, we tried the different fruits from the story this week. First we gave them all a smell and then tasted them and after we used adjectives to describe them. Finally, we voted with thumbs up or down whether we liked the fruit or not.
The fruits we tried were: tangerine, banana, mango, pineapple, passion fruit, avocado
The favourite fruits were banana and pineapple and the least favourites were passion fruit and avocado! 

 

We have started our new topic, 'Fabulous Food' in Acorn class and had a focus on the story 'Handa's Surprise' this week. We read the story in lots of different ways, it was our drawing club focus text, we used puppets to act out the story and we also cut out sequenced the story in the order of the animals stealing the different fruits. A busy first week back!
