Welcome

Acorn class - Term 6

In maths this week, we have learnt about grouping and sharing. First we explored sharing amounts with a partner, looking to see if the amount could be shared equally. In grouping, we counted the amount needed and then circled them. Again, checking to see if the amount could be put into equal groups or if there were any left over.

Continuing to look 'Under the Sea', we watched a video all about the creatures we might find in the ocean. Then we created our own underwater scene on paper plates. They were painted blue and had real sand sprinkled on them and then we drew and cut out our own sea life creatures to add to them.

This week we took our maths learning outside to enjoy the sunshine! We have been looking at repeating patterns. First, we drew a pattern using chalk, then we had to challenge our friends to see if they could continue and copy the pattern.

This week we learnt all about different sea creatures with a focus on the octopus. We learnt that they have no bones so can squeeze into small places, they can camouflage and they have 8 tentacles that have suckers on them to hold them in place. We then worked together in our groups to decorate an octopus body and create paper chains to represent the tentacles. We all showed fantastic team work and cooperation.
