Elm Class - Term 1

Last week, to celebrate European Day of Languages, we invited some of the school community to share some of their native languages. Mrs Walker shared some Chilean Spanish with us, read a story and sang 'head, shoulders, knees and toes'. In science, we were using models to explain the process of night and day.

We have been working hard in science and thinking about the different historic beliefs and theories of the solar system. Throughout history, scientists and astronomers have explained different theories about the Earth or the Sun being the centre of the universe. We created some pictures to demonstrate these theories.

We have had a great start to the new school year. We have been learning about place value in maths and have built upon previous learning as well as looking at larger numbers up to 1,000,000. In PE, we have begun learning fencing with a specialist instructor. We have been discussing how to be healthy and why fitness is important. We have also learnt some footwork and hand moves used in fencing.
