Maple Class - Term 3
In English, the children have been learning about fronted adverbials and how they can be utilised to show the order of events in an explanation text. In PE, the children have been developing key skills such as throwing, jumping, balance and flexibility. The children were investigating power and accuracy when throwing bean bags in to hoops at different distances.
Last week, the children were learning their 4 times tables in maths and applying this learning towards word problems and related calculations. In English, the children were learning the features of an explanation text and the importance of sub-headings to help sort paragraphs and information. The children have also enjoyed learning about our new topic, Ancient Egypt, and have completed research on the Pyramids of Giza.
The children have been learning about The Pyramids of Giza, in particular, Khufu's Pyramid. We used software to explore how and why they were constructed and how they have changed due to time and erosion. In Science, the children have been learning about skeletons and the bones in the human body. They were then investigating whether your leg length impacted on how far you could jump.
