Maple Class - Term 5
This week (commencing 12th May) we created our own drip paintings in the style of Jackson Pollock. We used different flick, splat and drip techniques and put our art work on the floor to create from above like the artist used to. We were so pleased with the outcome and loved the changes we had made from our drafts to perfect our final piece.
This week (commencing 5th May) we finished our unit on rocks in Science. We took our time to write brilliant, informative double page spreads displaying all of the facts and processes we have learnt! We also pretended to be paleontologists and removed 'fossils' (chocolate chips) from rocks (cookies) with care and precision! We did also enjoy eating our fossils and fossils afterwards...
This week (commencing 28th April) we created beautiful sunset backgrounds layering our different colours for affect. We waited for these to dry and created our pyramids, camels and palm trees for our silhouettes. When we put them together it made our pictures come to life!
Maple Class Egyptian Art Work
This week (commencing 22nd April) we explored Ancient Egypt and looked up facts using Egyptian books and the laptops. Together with our partners we made notes of what we found particularly focusing on mummification, the River Nile and the pyramids. Afterwards, we created informative posters all about Ancient Egypt to help us with our non-chronological reports we will be writing this term.
